Hard PVC 2 mm
PVC (polyvinyl chloride), sometimes abbreviated as PCW, is a thermoplastic material which is commonly used in many industry branches. Hard PVC is one of the oldest and most refined plastics, it is used both as a semi-finished and finished product.
Hard PVC boards have uniform structure and are a solid material. They are pressed into flat sheets with a hard surface. The surface of PVC boards is smooth, hard and non-porous with glossy finish. They feature very good resistance to chemical action (unprinted boards) impact and atmospheric conditions. Other characteristics include low water absorbency and sound-proofness.
Hard PVC boards are excellent for thermal and mechanical processing. PVC boards may be printed over (via digital print or screen printing), foiled, drilled, cut, bent (easy thermal forming) or varnished. However, one needs to point out that boards with overprint should not be subjected to strong chemicals which may damage or destroy the print surface. For this reason, it is not recommended to use sharp items to clean the boards as they may damage their structure.
The main feature of hard PVC boards is their high resistance to the elements, corrosion and chemical action. Furthermore, they are very resistant to mechanical damage in comparison to foamed PVC boards. Such a broad spectrum of possible processing makes hard PVC boards a popular medium in advertising, construction and industrial applications.
Hard PVC boards due to their many important characteristics (i.e. high resistance to mechanical action, corrosion, atmospheric conditions, chemicals) have a wide range of application in many industry branches.
Hard PVC boards are often used in manufacturing:
- information boards,
- exhibition stand structures,
- constructing partition walls for open space offices,
- laboratory countertops,
- machine casing ,
- window and door joinery,
- partition walls, window sills.
